Compatriots and Canines

No rants nor raves today. It's Friday again - so just some pleasant thoughts to end the week.

Bacchus and I have some new blogging buddies.

As my first year as a blogger nears its end I find the experience as a whole has been wonderful. I would like to introduce you to one of the many who has made it so.

I received an e-mail from Gail Graham, Tucson, AZ. She had read the blurb in the AARP Magazine, looked up my blog and found we shared a great bond with our dogs. She too gets some of her best ideas while on dog walks. Difference is she is a published and working novelist; I'm just a blogger. Digging deeper we found we had an enormous amount in common - our love for fine food and wine, art, theater, travel and on and on. How many people do you know who translate Chinese for the fun of it?

I was so taken with Gail and her new blog, Driving Chairman Bao, I decided to create a category of links entitled Kindred Spirits. Over time it will include blogs from non-locals who've caught my eye and interest and with whom I have personal contact. My version of Globalization if you will! Check her out - she's great fun and very interesting. Having been an ex-pat for years, her observations are eye opening and keen as she rediscovers the U.S. and she spoils Bao even more than I spoil Bacchus - if that's possible!

Taking a page from Blogmentor Oliveria's book, I find Dogwalk is evolving. I'm not sure where it's going to go or what form it may take; that's part of the fun. I'm just going to go with the flow and enjoy.
