Mr. President, What About US?

As the President made his speech to the U.N. today I wondered how many of the world leaders in attendance were feeling miffed by the lack of his personal attention.  Maybe what they might have wanted to say face to face is just some of that noise he prefers to block while he tries to avoid more bumps in the road.  After all, Whoopie, Babs and company make for much smoother travel.

That being said, he really missed a great opportunity in talking with the ladies of the day.  He could have taken his U.N. speech and parsed it for domestic consumption and explained a few things to us.

Let's take his comments about Islam and interject the good ole U.S. of A. into them.  I'll take a portion of his statement and put my terms in parentheses.  For instance:
Let us remember that Muslims (American voters ) have suffered the most at the hands of extremism.
A politics based only on anger - one based on dividing the world (country) between us and them - not only sets back international (political) cooperation, it ultimately undermines those who tolerate it. All of us have an interest in standing up to these forces.
Maybe most importantly:
Together, we must work together towards a world (country ) where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them. That is what America embodies, and that is the vision we will support.

Mr. President, listen to your own words - and mine and apply them to your country before trying to apply them to the entire world.  If you still don't get it I'll post a video.

Actually, as I have said before, Obama has done the best he could under the circumstances.... The Republican congress blocking all his best suggestions for job creation.....fixing our rotting infrastructure... But mostly the fact that he inherited the mess we are caught in.

No one can assume a major recession (depression) mostly caused by big business and banks who bent the rules for their own enrichment, can be overcome in four years. The great depression too twelve years to get through and even then, if it weren't for the second world war, we might still be suffering 25% unemployment.

I still believe 85% of the opposition to the president is hidden racism.

I don't know why they go on the talk shows.. like the View and Kelly and Mike. I guess for exposure.. but considering they don't ask good questions.. (like what do you wear to bed? What the heck?) it is hard to take them serious.. Oh, well, for the good or the worse, this will be over in just 41 days or so, this will all be over.. this has to be the worse election, of my memory..

Mari, I might be missing something here. Wasn't this a speach in front of world leaders? If so, I'm not sure that this was the place to be speaking about our countries internal problems. Yes, they certianly exist but you need to choose where and when to talk about them.

My thought anyway.

Tommy, the point is he should be applying those grand thoughts to our country before the rest of the world.

It is not a suggestion he should have said it in front of the world body, but he should have it in actual practice here before suggesting to others that we do.

This I agree with you on. But, we do wonder how that great(?) Government of ours operates..
