While the furor over Larry Craig continues, the Republicans have lost a truly great one of their own.
Jennifer Dunn died yesterday at age 66 from a pulmonary embolism. We lived in Bellevue, WA when she won the first of her six terms in Congress. She rose quickly through the ranks and paved the way for the success of women in politics today. We were strong supporters because of who and what she was to her community.
We were surprised and disappointed when she chose to retire rather than run for Senate. We wished her well. Our lives went on as did her own. Until today when she left us too soon. She was classy and accomplished. There is not a Republican in the headlines today that could not learn by reflecting on what this woman represented to her party, her constituency and her country.
May her family know that her constituents from long ago, remember, and share in their grief at her passing.
