Is This A Face We Can Learn To Love?

I've got to give the edge to Obama on this one. He hasn't found the need to set up a web site full of testimonials as to his likability.

According to USA Today candidate Clinton wants to change the image some have of her as being cold, aloof and arrogant. Producing Mom and daughter on campaign stops evidently hasn't done it. So she has set up a web site called The Hillary I Know .

Designed to showcase her personal side, it is filled with comments from those she has helped. Hmmm. As a U.S. Senator is that not what she's supposed to do? Kind of reminds me of the macabre humor that would emerge back in the days when I worked on March of Dimes telethons. Late in the 48 or so non stop hours when the pledges weren't to the level wanted, the youngsters would be dragged before the TV cameras, crutches and braces front and center, to sing "I'll Never Walk Alone." I wince when I think of it. But in some way this reminds me of those times; bring forward the frail or the disabled and show how warm and fuzzy you are. I guess I'm too jaded. The effort to me is suspect at best. Besides, what does doing what you're supposed to be doing have to do with being likable?

Ah, politics. If as much effort went into enunciating straight forward policies and how to implement them as goes into tearing down opponents or, yes, proving how likable you are, we'd be a lot better off.

Remember the question that always came up during the Bush campaigns? Which candidate would you most like to have a beer with? Well, we got the winner.

As for Mother and daughter? Well, there is the old saw, "You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family." Mothers will do anything for their daughters, and in most cases daughters will do the same for their mothers. You might note, however, her brothers are nowhere to be seen.

It's not the face so much, it's the person hidng behind the face. A consumate politican...yes. In my book that is a negative. And when the politician is named Clinton, the warning bells are deafening. Trust that particular face? When snowballs hold their shape in the nether regions.....no, not even then.

I just can't bear the thought of Hilary in the White House, not because she's a woman, but because of who she is married to! That man will be back in the White House. He's such a sleaze! Not what I want representing our country!
