It's Only Money - Ours

For a while I had high hopes for our President.  He wasn't in office long before I realized I hadn't done enough homework on the man. Still I gave him the benefit of the doubt on many issues due to his newness to the office and lack of experience.

That ended with most of his cabinet picks and his refusal to leave the campaign trail to work with Congress.  Since then we've found he has no interest in working with Congress, Congress has no interest in working with each other or him and the people are left sitting on the sidelines wondering what the heck happened.

With words written by others on teleprompters, the President appears to be confident and dedicated.  But in reality, to what?  It certainly isn't to us.  It must be that ethereal legacy we keep hearing about.  I don't think it will turn out as he would like.  At least until he gets beyond himself and starts paying attention to that going on around him. Don't hold your breath.  He just isn't interested.

He is in Ireland now for the G8.  I don't expect him to have an easy time of it since he seems to be at odds with many of the other members on a host of topics.

The one consistency, however, is that when wife and kids accompany the cost to taxpayers skyrockets.  While he is tending to business they are off playing .  Please tell me the Obamas are picking up the first class equivalent cost and the $3,750 a night suite  in which Mrs. Obama will be staying.  Hopefully with the girls.  And the 30 other rooms will be occupied by secret service, not friends.  Or if friends, they're paying their own way.  Please tell me that.

You see, I can't help but think how many youngsters couldn't visit their White House because of the sequester but our tax dollars are allowing Obama's two girls flit around the world.  A world that many of those school kids who had a once in a lifetime trip to Washington will probably never get to see.

Or that firefighters have been cut back and peoples homes are burning as the fire season in the west is just getting started.  Or that Homeland Security is buying up millions of rounds of ammunition while kindergartens are closing.

Granted, the departments differ.  The point, however, is priorities.  No monies were cut, the rate of increase is what was cut so it falls that what services are being cut is at the discretion of the department heads, not necessity.  Politics of course.  Make us suffer so your opposition looks bad.  The trouble is, sir, your side does too. Petty and mean spirited.

I see it as one of two things.  Either they are totally incompetent, which is a distinct possibility, or they have such contempt for the people they are supposed to serve they just don't care.  This includes Congress, both parties.

It's ironic to me that the President who wants to bleed the wealthy through taxation takes that tax money and spends it as though it were his personal wealth without concern as to how many of us view it what's more not being true.

Those of us who have trouble buying a full tank of gas or fresh produce.  Those of us who aren't invested in the soaring stock market because we don't have the extra income with which to invest.  Those of us who are losing full time jobs to part time ones or none at all due to the cost of Obamacare to our employers.

You're going to be a wealthy man when you leave office Mr. President.  Save seeing the world with your wife and kids until then.  Or are you worried you won't have the disposable income after taxes?  In the real world things cost money that is your own, not someone elses.

I'll no longer suggest you become engaged or stop leading from behind because I know you won't.  You'll do as you want for as long as possible. I just hope the country that is allowing you to do this survives. There are those in the world who have already dismissed us.  I wish you cared.

The President can't spend a penny of the taxpayers' money without the consent of Congress. And, Mrs. Obama and their daughters do, indeed pay for their trips, rooms, air fare, etc., out of the family coffers. This has been confirmed after every single trip they have taken. And, speaking of Congress, they have, from day one refused to cooperate with him. Not the other way around. It's all in the way different people want to perceive it. I don't agree with everything he does, by any means, but he's better than the alternative would have been.

We're never going to agree on this President nor his administration. I do not agree that Romney would have been worse.

The next few years is going to be like riding on a raft down the river... hopefully we don't over turn. Would Romney be better? I doubt it.. we haven't had a leader in so many years.. and there doesn't seem to be anyone out there to be next. Christie is the only one so far, and who knows if he has feet of clay.

But, we do agree on a lot of other things.

That's the beauty of it, isn't it?
