Appease The Rabble Rousers

So now we have Al Sharpton calling for a nationalized police force,  Michael Moore suggesting police be disarmed, six officers criminally charged for doing their job and one for murder though the reports I've heard say Mr. Grey injured himself inside the paddy wagon with no officers around.

Granted I don't know what the investigation revealed. but there are a lot of things that do trouble me.  First,  Mayor Rawlings-Blake didn't do herself any favors by turning to Al Sharpton for advice.

As a side point, why isn't this man in jail for tax evasion, why is he still employed by MSNBC and why is he the President's go to man on race relations?  That in itself tells a lot about the thinking of Madam Mayor. She chose the most prominent agitator out there.

How has it come down to appeasing the protesters, most of whom are professionals at that.  Another side point.  Who funds these people?  How do they merge in troubled spots so quickly.  Even with social media, it takes time to arrange lodging and travel or do they just pitch a tent on the street?

Back to the main point. Obama said early on he'd like to nationalize the police.  The Brown Shirts live!  At least the desire for them. The Brown Shirts were the paramilitary wing of the Nazis. Just what we need is a group of federal enforcers. Will vigilantes resurface too?

Are we really moving in that direction?  I hope not but can't help but wonder.  The police are under attack more and more while the criminals are being comforted and allowed to loot or babied because they aren't technically adults.  All for a man with a rap sheet a mile long and facts yet to be known.

For the majority of us who do not live in ghettos this is nonsense but we are not the squeaky wheel.  We are not out there en masse protecting businesses from the hooligans or helping the police in any way we can even if only verbally defending them.  Soon, if we're not careful, they'll be too paralyzed to act.  Not from fear as much as those who command them forbidding them from doing their jobs.  Then what will we have?  Mob rule and city after city will fall.

This is what Al Sharpton wants.  And Michael Moore for what ever reason other than publicity.  I worry that it is also what the President wants. If not, why doesn't he speak out?  He's quick enough when it's about a black victim.  It's absent when it comes to law enforcement.

No wonder those men and women who face the likes of these men who will mock them day in and day out have such a strong brotherhood.  I just hope it's strong enough to stand against those who would like not to have them at all.

Bullies

SONY has been hacked.  A lot of what had been assumed as private information was suddenly public.  Who was to blame?  The FBI tells us it was North Korea.  I have my doubts.

Maybe they had a hand in it but somehow I doubt they evey knew  the movie spoof about doing in their "Young One" was being made.  No, I think some insiders had a hand in it.  But no.  The FBI says it was North Korea.  After all they have information the rest of us don't.  Like where the perps of Benghazai hang out.

The President assured us he would retaliate appropriately.  We've placed some more sanctions on them.  They don't have anything anyway so I don't see that they'll have any impact. But such is the way our government does business these days.

Now, if you really want to let someone know we can't be bullied by some two bit caricature, why don't we start with Al Sharpton?  The same Al Sharpton who sits with the Mayor of New York and the President of the United States on one hand and on the other  extorts large cash contributions from corporations to keep him and his National Action Network from accusing them of racism. Companies like Macy's, Honda and AT&T.

Also those organizations who demand politicians sign a pledge to favor their cause or a candidate will be run against them. Or the office holders who are in positions of power who won't allow legislation to come to a vote because it's not what the man wants.

They are all bullies.  Their behavior is despicable.  If anyone takes a pledge to do anything, let it be to give the likes of these no sway.  I wonder if we even recognize that we're being held hostage to these people and their special interests.  It's part of what's wrong with government because it starts at the local level and embeds itself forever after. That's what lobbiests do.  That's what political action groups do.  Those who cater to them get ahead, those who don't don't.

Perhaps it's time we get behind those who have the guts "to just say no". When you look at the players you see it isn't at all racist.  Sure, Sharpton, the President and Holder are black but Kim Jong Un isn't. The House and Senate leadership is lily white.  So are the Christian Conservatives who demand their pound of flesh.

It goes to show that unsavory behavior has nothing to do with race.  It has to do with character. Just because a person is a caricature doesn't mean he has character.  At least not a good one.

Reap What You Sow

"What do we want? Dead cops.  When do we want it? Now!" Free speech or shouting fire in a theater?  According to the racist adviser to the White House it's free speech.  To anyone with an ounce of sense looking at the current climate it's akin to crying fire in a theater.

I hope all the race baiters are happy that two NYPD officers lie dead.  Now, right before Christmas a boy is without his father and a bride without her groom.  Thank you Mr. Mayor and Mr. Sharpton and all those with whom you are complicit.

Now Mr. Sharpton is asking the Feds for protection because he has received death threats.  I can't imagine why. Okay, how 'bout we protect him behind bars where he belongs for a multitude of sins including non-payment of taxes which have been ignored.  Yet he struts around anointing himself as spokesperson for justice for blacks.

What would I like to see?  When the two officers are laid to rest I'd like to see hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets of New York in support of their police and every other police department in the nation. I'd like to see it led by blacks chanting "Police lives are important!" Or maybe  "What do we want? Respect for our police.  When do we want it? Now!"

It's about time we start enunciating the facts of daily life.  Police are the thin blue line between safety and chaos.  The higher the crime area the greater their presence and the greater the danger to their lives. If those who are committing the crimes are black then they are the ones who will be apprehended and punished or if they resist they are likely to be shot.  And killed. The same applies to everyone, no matter their race.

Instead of lionizing a man who was killed while police were trying to arrest him for a crime he had a habit of committing or a teen who thought attacking an officer and trying to get his weapon let's look at the facts of the case.  Yes, it's tragic when someone loses their life but lets put the blame where it belongs.  On the one committing the crime.

Of course black lives are important.  So is mine and so is yours and so, especially, are the lives of those who have taken an oath to do what is necessary for us to be able live those lives in peace and without fear.

I don't fear the police.  I fear the likes of Al Sharpton, Bill di Blasio and those in the administration who feel it necessary to propagate fear and division in order to justify their being. I have trouble getting my arms around the idea that their lives, too, are important.  Perhaps they are as a lesson as to how not to live my own.
