What Makes Democrats Tick?

Why is it that the Democrats in Congress have such contempt for the very people they are supposed to represent?  Oh sure, they always parade before the microphone and tell us that everything the Republicans bring forth is to the detriment to the country.  We're supposed to swallow their dictums hook, line and sinker.

Well, I for one, am sick and tired of their silly games.  Their opposition is purely for the sake of opposition in the faint hope something they do will bring down the President.

I've got news for them.  He's more resilient than they are!  Unlike others before, he won't slink into hiding and avoid the controversy; he jumps into the middle of it.  It seems that at least his own party is beginning to come around and stand with him.

In fairness to the Dems, the Republicans are just as bad when the Dems are in power.  Isn't it time for it to stop and have intelligent and civil debate on the issues instead of all this pouting when they don't get their way? It makes me wonder what sort of sheep we've put in office and tend to keep.  Why do we do so?

Have you every looked at their faces when they line up behind their leadership?  They are all so dour, both parties, that it is obviously an unpleasant undertaking to serve us.  More of them should opt not to run again.

I listened to Alan Dershowitz the other evening where he was criticizing his own party and calling for more centrists. He's right.  I'd like to take him one step further however.  He voted for Hillary.  He's a staunch Democrat.  But knowing what we know about Hillary and the entire Clinton operation I wonder how he could vote for her.  That he really didn't want Trump?  I get that but is that enough to vote for Hillary?  I'd love to have him explain it.  Or is voting the party line what one does no matter what.

It's going to be an interesting political year. I don't trust what anyone says the  mid-terms are going to be because I don't believe they are really talking to we, the people. No one has asked me nor anyone I know exactly what it is we want and expect from our elected officials.

So what do I do?  I guess I'll just tell them here.  For instance what are we going to do about Turkey's Erdogan bombing the Syrian rebels who we support? Inquiring minds want to know.

Stay tuned.

Listen To The Godfather!

I'm no fan of Rahm Emmanuel but the Democrats should listen to him when he says 'chill'.  All this posturing and protesting is just making them look silly and sad.  As in pathetic.

Emmanuel has a plan for them to get back into the position of winning if only they will listen.  He admits it is a long term process but the first and foremost precept is to win.  What a concept.First they need to get some decent leadership.  I don't think Mr. Ellison nor Mr. Perez are the best choices but then I'm far more centrist than either. Next they need to find viable candidates to run in Republican districts.  Emmanuel has that scoped out too. The Republicans have already learned how to choose candidates that appeal to the populace and they have also provided them with a vision.  That's why they won.  They had something concrete to vote for that they believed in.  Even if the person leading the charge was so unlikely and imbued with negatives!

Personally I hope they don't listen and continue with their incessant pouting.  It gives the Republicans, as shaky as they are, a leg up. Their albatross is their own President.

Now if Mr. Emmanuel could come up with a plan as good to get the gang violence in his city under control he'd really be riding high.  Maybe you'd even see him on the national ballot at some point.

Nah. He doesn't have the charisma.  But you never know when the most unlikely candidate this last go round came out on top.  Tells you what the voting public thinks of main stream politicians.

Donkeys and Democrats

Donkeys are known to be stubborn.  I've read it's about self preservation thus their refusal to go along easily, especially when it's a human giving the orders.

What a perfect mascot for the Democrat Party.  They have their ideology and they will stubbornly resist anybody who tries to wrest it away from them or alter it in any way.

After eight years of having one of their own in the White House it has become readily apparent that their sacred policies did not work and that the American voter soundly rejected them.  Yes, they did. The voters that gave Hillary the edge in the popular vote came from New York and California, both heavily Democrat. And both having their difficulties under Democrat leaders.  Especially California.

What goes on out here in America between Republican and Democrat neighbors has nothing to do with the larger problem of Washington.  I don't think it is Republicans alone who are fed up with the shenanigans of our representatives in Congress. It has become a game between the parties and the most clever will win.  The Democrats did for years under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  Pelosi is still there but Chuck Schummer is no Harry Reid.  Thank heavens.

The problem for the Republicans is their leadership.  Mitch McConnell has yet to show he has the killer instinct to get things done and for some reason Paul Ryan seems to have an agenda of his own which seems more sacrosanct than the President's.

Therefore both sides are causing fits for the new administration.  You know, it's beginning to be funny to me to watch this slap stick. There is so much drama in the executive branch alone it's hard to keep up with it whats more what is and isn't happening in Congress.

I wonder if it will ever settle down.  Out of the chaos I hear Iran has been put on notice for it's ballistic missile tests.  It was barely a whisper beneath the belligerence in Congress over the hearings on the cabinet appointees.  Yet it is hugely important.  Just what does being put on notice mean to this group?

Trump has disturbed the order of things and those affected don't want to cope nor do I think they know how.  Quick on their feet they are not.

So they want things to remain the same.  The people do not.  We have a President pledged to the people.  The question is who will win?

Are Democrats With The Country?

We as a nation have been witness to the most witless meltdown of our political system that one can imagine.  It would seem there is little doubt that the Democrats have set themselves up as the final authority on everything.  They are always right and the rest of us are dreadfully wrong.

I'm getting tired of the show.  Every day now it's the Democrats defying everything the new administration wants to do.  Granted, the sloppiness of many of the administration's actions deserve defiance, but not everything.

It's time for the Democrats to quit beating their breasts in agony and get the cabinet members approved and in place.  The President, after all, was elected by the people.  And bear in mind, the people who gave Hillary the popular vote came from two relatively small areas considering the breadth of the entire nation.  The "popular" vote issue doesn't wash.

I expect there is going to be a lot of pronouncements from Trump that are going to have to be walked back.  That's what happens when you have someone who reacts impulsively and Trump is definitely that.  He's also showing that he can be reasoned with, to an extent, thus the walk backs.  He would be well served with a more experienced press secretary.

That the Democrats are adding to the chaos is by design is no secret.  They seem very proud of themselves and are quite vocal about it.  But it doesn't serve any one well.  They are just making the Trump voters and those watching from outside any political realm disgusted and angry.  Nothing is getting done and that hurts the country.

It may be difficult getting this new President on track but it would be helpful if the Democrats would get off their high horse and join the political process as it was meant to be. Keeping the divide doesn't help the country and they may soon find it doesn't help them as a party either.

It's a mess. Everyone. Grow up.

They Get It, They Just Don't Want To

The new administration hasn't been sworn in yet.  Rosie O'Donnell tells us we have three weeks to stop Donald Trump.  Not that anyone should care what Rosie O'Donnell says or thinks.  The only reason she gets a mention is her "celebrity" such as it is these days.

But it isn't just Rosie.  It's from the President on down.  He's plotting with fellow Democrats on how to salvage his agenda.  The Democrats have made no secret they are going to fight Trump on everything.

For some reason they won't accept the fact that Trump won and they lost.  Trump's vision for this country is the one the people embraced, not theirs.  They've had eight years to show us how wonderful it is and they have failed miserably.

I'm getting tired of their whining and their obstructionist attitude.  Co-operation isn't in their vocabulary.  I'm getting tired of them telling us, even if tacitly, they know what's best for us and they are going to fight to the last standing man to shove their agenda down our throat even if they aren't in office.

It exhausts me that we've got four years of this arrogant attitude to endure.  Trump may be a huge failure.  Who knows.  But at least give the President elect a chance. I know, I'm preaching to the choir and that's a shame.

One thing I can live with, however, is the knowledge that his picks for his cabinet are not the monsters the left would have us believe.  They are men and women of accomplishment, not paybacks for favors with little experience in or knowledge of the areas they've been asked to oversee.

The more they whine and conspire the more I hope Trump is as successful as he boasts he will be. The Democrats deserve to have their noses rubbed in  that success from the opposition and actually we, who voted for it, deserve the spoils. May Trump triumph!

Public Figures, Will You Please Grow Up?

What to address first?  How about the flap over Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu speaking before Congress and the Democrat promise to boycott it because Speaker Boehner didn't first run it past the President.

OMG, what a breach of protocol!  This from a President whose wife snaked an arm around the Queen on England, had then French President Sarkozy open a Parisian store so Michelle and the girls could shop on a Sunday.  Bowed before Kings.  Snapped selfies at a State Service for Nelson Mandela with obvious delight and chews his nicotine gum non-stop while talking with dignitaries. Don't forget having British Prime Minister Davis Cameron lobby members of our Senate to not pass legislation creating more sanctions against Iran.

Since Cameron did that the entire Congress should  be required to listen to Netanyahu because of anyone who knows the territory, the dangers and the likely consequences it is he. Protocol aside, the boycott is not only foolish but rude.  But then this administration has a major in rude.

Next is the pained lecture at the National Prayer meeting when we were told not to get on our high horses over this ISIS thing.  After all, such savagery has happened before and even Christians partook.  Right, they were even then being slaughtered.

The point he seems to be missing is not only the time line - then versus now, but the fact that civilized people fought such impulses within themselves and their societies and for the most part conquered them.  Without strong worldwide leadership, which the United States used to provide, it has again raised its ugly head.  And without strong worldwide leadership it is growing at an alarming rate.  Then too there is the aggression we see from Russia due to the same reason.

So let's turn the tables here, Mr. President.  How 'bout getting off your high horse? And the Democrats, and even Mr. Netanyahu.  Quit building settlements in disputed territory!  You too can help the situation!

Then on to those who report all this to us, the media.  Mr. Williams, your braggadocio behavior may fade from the news cycle, but I for one will never put any trust in your reporting nor your network ever again unless there is a total turnover of management, perhaps even ownership.

All these actions are reflective of self serving immaturity. If we don't do better in selecting leaders we'll find ourselves changing part of the pledge of allegiance to "one nation, under Benjamin Button...".
