It Takes Two To Have An Affair

This morning I was browsing the news headlines, and as expected it was mostly John Edwards. Along with a kazillion other bloggers I've stated my disappointment in him and disgust. In tandem with that comes the sympathy for wife and family. It's not just Edwards. It's every politician who betrays the public trust as well as his family's.

There is another side to these stories that is rarely addressed. The women who have affairs with these men are equally reprehensible. Whether she be Clinton's Monica, while young, knew exactly what she was doing when she flashed her thong, to Eliot Spitzer's prostitute. Again, a young lady, but one does not become a prostitute without knowing what one is doing.

Now we have a "film maker" with no experience picking up a United States Senator in a hotel bar, who is consequently hired to document a Presidential campaign. When it became bed time I don't believe for one minute she didn't know exactly what she was doing or why.

An ABC News story has her sister defending her. "She is a good and honest person, the sweetest and most caring woman one could ever hope to meet," the sister said."Do you think it's easy for us to just sit back and let everyone rip her to shreds and not defend her honor?"

I understand family wanting to defend one of it's own. "She is good." Apparently. "Honest." I don't think so. "Sweet and caring." Probably considering the circumstances. Of course its not easy to sit back and watch the media and the blogs rip her to shreds, but to defend her honor?

What honor? She had an affair with a married man who claimed to be totally devoted to wife and family and was running for President. Whether or not she bore his child has yet to be determined. An Edwards staffer has thus far taken the fall.

Where is the "honor" in that?
